PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Dec 9: Jharkhand continued to experience a steady drop in both day and night temperatures on Tuesday, as per the weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi.

The state remained dry, with no rainfall recorded across any major station.

Chaibasa registered the highest maximum temperature at 27.8°C, while Gumla recorded the lowest minimum at 5.3°C, indicating a significant overnight chill.

In Ranchi, the day temperature settled at 22.8°C, slightly below normal, whereas the minimum temperature was 10.6°C, marking a marginal drop.

Jamshedpur witnessed a maximum of 26.4°C, with the minimum dipping to 10.5°C, showing a noticeable 1.4°C fall from normal levels.

Daltonganj and Bokaro too reported cooler-than-usual conditions, with both maximum and minimum temperatures remaining below seasonal averages.

The IMD noted no rainfall anywhere in the state, indicating stable and dry winter conditions.

However, fog and reduced visibility were reported in parts of the state, with the lowest visibility recorded at 1500 meters in Ranchi, affecting early-morning commuters.

Automated weather stations across Bokaro, Deoghar, East Singhbhum, Godda, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Latehar, Lohardaga, Pakur, Simdega, and West Singhbhum also showed a consistent pattern of mild daytime conditions and sharp night-time cooling, typical of early winter in Jharkhand.

Meteorologists suggest that the cold trend is expected to intensify gradually in the coming days, particularly in the western and central districts, as dry north-westerly winds continue to dominate the region.

Residents are advised to take adequate precautions, especially during early morning and late evening hours.
