Dhanbad, Dec 11: The BIT Sindri team emerged victorious at the National Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025, held at the Jaipur Zonal Centre in Rajasthan on December 8 and 9.

The team, Robust Solutions from BIT Sindri, led by Akash Verma and comprising Praveen Chaurasiya, Niraj Prajapati, Prince Kumar, Divya Raj, and Rimisha Kumari, demonstrated exceptional teamwork across all three rounds of the competition.

They developed an AI-based Dropout Prediction and Counselling System, addressing Problem Statement ID SIH25102 provided by the Government of Rajasthan, and won a cash prize of ₹1,50,000 for the best innovative approach.

According to the team, the advanced software uses a trained AI model to predict the risk of students potentially dropping out of college or school, categorizing them into Green, Orange, or Red zones.

For students identified in the Orange or Red zones, the system automatically initiates AI-driven counseling sessions, along with several integrated features to support the student and improve retention.

Former BIT Sindri Director and Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT), Dr. D.K. Singh, BIT Sindri Director Prof. Pankaj Rai, along with other faculty members, congratulated the team. They said this success reflects the institute’s strong culture of innovation and will inspire more students to participate at national platforms.

The faculty expressed confidence that such achievements will continue to strengthen BIT Sindri’s reputation across India.

They also highlighted the active support and guidance of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC 8.0) and the Hackathon and Coding Club (HnCC), which consistently encourage student-driven innovation and organize hackathon activities on campus.

“This victory has created a positive environment across the campus and motivated many students to prepare for similar opportunities in the future,” they added.
