Ranchi, Dec 12: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting coordinated raids at 25 locations across Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat in connection with the illegal purchase and sale of deadly cough syrup.
Officials said the searches began around 7:30 am and covered multiple cities, including Lucknow, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Saharanpur, Ahmedabad and Ranchi.
Ranchi-based Shaily Traders—through which this hazardous cough syrup is allegedly supplied in Jharkhand—has also been brought under the scanner.

The ED’s action includes searches at properties linked to Jharkhand-based trader Shubham Jaiswal, his associates Alok Singh and Amit Singh, and several manufacturers accused of diverting pharmaceutical supplies for unlawful distribution.
The agency has also included CA Vishnu Agrawal in its investigation.
In Ranchi, ED teams raided Jaiswal’s Tupudana-based warehouse and residence. Sources indicate that Shaily Traders alone handles an annual turnover of over ₹5 crore from this illegal cough syrup business.
