Ranchi, Dec. 20: The investigation into the viral video of a child’s body being carried in a bag from Sadar Hospital, Chaibasa, has been completed. The investigation report conducted by the Sub-Divisional Officer, Sadar Chaibasa, has been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, West Singhbhum.
The investigation clarified that the deceased child’s name was Krishna Chatomba (father – Dimba Chatomba), resident of Baljori village, Noamundi. The viral video stated the child’s age as four years, which was found to be factually incorrect. The investigation revealed that the deceased child was only four months old.
According to the investigation report, the child was admitted to Sadar Hospital, Chaibasa, on the evening of December 18, 2025, at 5:15 PM with complaints of fever and loose motions. The child was kept in the pediatric ward, and during treatment, he tested positive for malaria. A proposal was made to refer the child to MGM Hospital, Jamshedpur, for better treatment, but the father expressed his wish to continue treatment at the same hospital.

During treatment, the child died on December 19 at 1:15 PM. After the death, arrangements were made for a hearse, but a delay occurred because one hearse was in Manoharpur and the other had met with an accident. The family members were informed to wait. The hearse arrived at the hospital around 4:40 PM, but by then the child’s father had already left the hospital with the body.
The investigation also revealed that a total of 33 children were admitted to the ward that day, and only two nurses were on duty. Due to attending to other patients, it could not be ascertained at what time the child’s father left the hospital with the body. Since the child’s father did not have a mobile phone, he could not be contacted. The inquiry report states that if the family had waited for the ambulance, one would have been available. In their haste, the father carried the body in a bag. To prevent similar incidents from happening in the future, a proposal has been made to promptly repair a damaged ambulance, the report added.
