Jamshedpur, Dec 24: The official Robotics and Automation Club of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur, Team RoboAut, has brought international acclaim to the institute by securing 5th place at the prestigious International Robo-War Competition held at IIT Bombay.
The high-profile contest witnessed participation from elite teams across India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Russia, making the achievement a significant milestone for the institute and the state of Jharkhand.

Under the leadership of Director Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, and the guidance of Prof. Satish Kumar (Dean – Research & Consultancy), P. Kumar (Head, Mechanical Engineering Department) and Dr V.K. Dalla (Faculty-in-Charge), Team RoboAut designed and developed a state-of-the-art combat robot.
The robot earned widespread appreciation for its structural strength, precision control and tactical superiority.
Throughout the competition, Team RoboAut delivered a series of intense and thrilling performances, defeating several national and international opponents, including teams from Nepal, Sri Lanka and Russia.
The team advanced to the semi-finals, ultimately clinching an impressive 5th position on the global leaderboard.
The team’s success was further strengthened by vital industry collaboration.
Himalaya Enterprises, Jamshedpur, and ROSA Tech extended crucial technical expertise, industrial resources and financial support, enabling the robot’s design, fabrication and testing to meet real-world industrial standards.

Congratulating the team, Prof. Gautam Sutradhar said, “This achievement by Team RoboAut reflects the strong culture of innovation, research and hands-on engineering education at NIT Jamshedpur. Team members Prashant Sharma, Souvik Nath, Debjit Gorai, Mohammad Taukir Zia, Mridul Akshat and Shubham worked in close coordination across design, mechanical fabrication, electronics, control systems and combat strategy to accomplish this feat.
The achievement has been widely celebrated by faculty members, students and industry professionals alike, marking a proud moment for NIT Jamshedpur and Jharkhand as well.
