Jharkhand News: Palamu Tiger Reserve bans liquor, cops flush out alcohol from tourists

Daltonganj December 30: Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) has imposed a ban on any type of liquor like harya, country-made, Indian made foreign liquor etc at the tourist spot.

Police and the quick response team of the PTR are keeping a strict vigil for any sneaking in or trespass of liquor at the tourists’ spot.

Forester in charge of Bareysarn Range of PTR Paramjeet Tiwary told this correspondent, “Cops of the Bareysarn police station took over (not seized as then it will be a legal issue) bottles of wine from around two dozen tourists and flushed down the wine in the water of the Sugga Bandh.”

Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav on being contacted said, “We have issued instructions to all our police stations to intensify the drive against drink and rash driving.”

“Cops have been asked to prevent the playing of DJ sound and obscene songs. Let tourists and locals enjoy, but no aberration of them will be brooked,” the SP Latehar added.

Lady cops too have been deployed where the flow of the woman tourists is enormous, said Gaurav.

The tourists had never thought of such flushing down of the wine in the water, added the PTR official.

The police’s restrained action baffled the tourists most, as they had feared more severe action coming to them, said the PTR sources.

Some of the tourists tried to rebel or protest when their wines were flushed down, but were refrained from doing any more public nuisance by other members of them said sources.

“A few tourists reached our quick response team and expressed regrets for not following the advisory of the PTR,” he said.

Latehar district has many stunning and mesmerizing tourist spots.

The big of all attractions is the Betla National Park.

The 3 water falls, namely Sugga Bandh, Lodh Falls and Mirchaiya Falls, witness huge footfall of the tourists.

There is a hot water spring at Tatta Pani, where there is enough landscape for the tourists.
