IVF clinics directed to submit monthly birth reports to PC & PNDT Committee

Dhanbad, Jan 7: Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan has directed all district-based IVF clinics to submit monthly reports of childbirths to the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Committee on a priority basis.

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed that patient confidentiality must be strictly maintained while submitting the reports. The monthly reports will include details related to the sex ratio at birth.

IVF Clinics Must Follow PC & PNDT Act

Presiding over the meeting of the PC & PNDT District Advisory Committee on Wednesday, DC Aditya Ranjan said that all IVF clinics must be registered and function strictly under the provisions of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act.

Surprise Inspections Ordered

The DC directed officials to conduct surprise inspections at ultrasound centres located in areas with poor sex ratio. He also ordered inspections of all ultrasound centres in the district to ensure compliance with prescribed norms.

These include the installation of CCTV cameras, display of mandatory signage, proper maintenance of records containing patient name, address and phone number, availability of fire safety equipment, and adherence to other regulatory requirements.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed that any non-functional ultrasound machine be made operational immediately. It was also stated that the licenses of centres violating rules will be suspended with immediate effect.

Those present at the meeting included Civil Surgeon Dr. Alok Vishwakarma, Executive Magistrate Narayan Ram, Dr. Vikas Kumar Rana, Dr. Rajkumar Singh, Radiologist Dr. Shams Tabrez Alam, Gynaecologist Dr. Gayatri Singh, IMA Secretary Dr. Rakesh Inder Singh, Pooja Ratnakar from NGO Main Hoon Dhanbad, Paediatrician Dr. Syed Mashir Alam, DPRO Sunil Kumar Singh, and R. K. Shrivastava.
