Jamshedpur, Feb 3: Temperatures rose across several districts of Jharkhand over the past 24 hours, with both maximum and minimum readings staying above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi centre. No rainfall was recorded anywhere in the state during this period, as per observations taken at 8:30 am on Monday.

In Ranchi, the maximum temperature touched 26.4°C, which is 1.5°C above normal, while the minimum settled at 13.2°C, marking a notable departure of +2.8°C from seasonal averages.

Jamshedpur experienced a warmer day, with the maximum temperature rising to 30.0°C, about 2.4°C above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 13.4°C.

Chaibasa (PTO) emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording the highest maximum temperature of 31.4°C.

On the cooler side, Gumla AWS reported the lowest minimum temperature at 8.4°C.

Other Key Observations

  • Daltonganj: Max 28.6°C | Min 10.5°C
  • Bokaro Thermal: Max 27.1°C | Min 12.1°C
  • Chaibasa: Min 12.4°C

The IMD report confirmed nil rainfall across all reporting stations and no fog formation. However, visibility dropped to 1,500 metres at Jamshedpur (MO)—the lowest recorded visibility in the state during the period.

Data from Automated Weather Stations (AWS) also showed above-normal temperatures in Saraikela, Simdega, West Singhbhum, Bokaro, and Khunti, reinforcing the trend of a milder-than-usual winter across Jharkhand.

The IMD has forecast that dry weather conditions are likely to continue, with shallow fog or mist possible at isolated places during morning hours over the next few days.
