Ahmedabad/Deoghar/Godda, February 22: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday reviewed major power investments in Jharkhand and Bihar, reinforcing the conglomerate’s growing footprint in eastern India — a region rich in mineral resources but historically under-industrialised.
The visit covered key thermal power projects in Godda (Jharkhand) and Pirpainti in Bhagalpur (Bihar), together representing planned and ongoing investments of over ₹43,000 crore.
Godda’s 1,600 MW Ultra-Supercritical Plant
In tribal-dominated Godda, Gautam Adani assessed operations at the Group’s 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant, built at an investment of over ₹16,000 crore.
The plant has generated thousands of direct and indirect jobs while improving rail connectivity in the region. It supplies electricity exclusively to Bangladesh under a long-term power purchase agreement, giving the project cross-border strategic and economic significance.
During the visit, Adani interacted with engineers, technicians and frontline workers at the site. He also met tribal women from nearby communities, underlining what the Group described as its “people-first” commitment alongside infrastructure expansion.
₹27,000-Crore Pirpainti Power Project in Bihar
In neighbouring Bihar, Adani reviewed progress on the Group’s proposed 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power project at Pirpainti near Bhagalpur, involving an investment of over ₹27,000 crore.
The project is expected to be commissioned over the next four to five years and aims to support Bihar’s rising industrial and urban electricity demand.
With these developments, the Adani Group is positioning itself among the largest private-sector infrastructure investors in Jharkhand and Bihar, states that have traditionally attracted limited large-scale industrial capital.
Temple Visit at Deoghar
Earlier in the day, Adani arrived in Deoghar, where he offered prayers at the Baba Baidyanath (Babadham) Temple, praying for the well-being and prosperity of the state and the nation.
He later visited the residence of Godda MP Nishikant Dubey before proceeding to Pirpainti and subsequently to the Godda power plant for internal project meetings with Group officials.
Adani described the visit as fulfilling a long-held personal wish and reiterated his belief in “Seva hi Sadhana Hai” — service as a form of devotion.
In recent years, the Adani Group has associated itself with major religious and public events, including initiatives linked to the Maha Kumbh Mela and the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Prayagraj and Puri.
