Palamu’s Masoom Art Group performs at Kalinga Theatre Festival

 

Daltonganj, February 25: Palamu-based theatre organisation Masoom Art Group represented Jharkhand at the 28th Kalinga Theatre Festival held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from 20 to 25 February.

The nationally recognised theatre festival, organised by Shatabdi Kalakar, featured leading theatre groups from across India. The participation of Masoom Art Group at the prestigious event is being seen as a proud moment for Palamu district and the state.

The group staged its widely appreciated play Sandhya Tara, which received a warm response from the audience.

“Sandhya Tara” Highlights Changing Family Bonds

Speaking about the performance, Masoom Art Group President Vinod Kumar Pandey said the Kalinga Theatre Festival is one of the country’s significant theatre platforms, bringing together prominent cultural organisations.

Sandhya Tara, written and directed by Saikat Chatterjee and based on an original work by noted playwright Manoj Mitra, explores strained family relationships in contemporary society. The play portrays the emotional struggles of elderly parents whose children live away from home.

Saikat Chatterjee played the role of Tarashankar, while Munmun Chakraborty portrayed Sandhya Lata. Their performances were widely appreciated. Ujjwal Sinha, in the role of Shivnath, along with Kanak Lata Tirkey, Amar Kumar Bhanja, Rahul Kumar and Shyamali Ghosh, delivered strong supporting performances. Shyamali Ghosh, performing on stage for the first time, also impressed the audience.

Chatterjee was honoured at the festival for his contribution.
