Daltonganj, March 16: The Palamu police hosted an Iftar party in Daltonganj on Monday, bringing together people from different faiths to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan.

The gathering coincided with the 26th day of the holy month, with the fast concluded following the Azan from the Jama Masjid. Attendees shared a variety of traditional dishes in a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
Senior Officials and Dignitaries Attend
Several senior officials and dignitaries were present at the event, including IG of Police, Palamu Zone, Shailendra Kumar Sinha, DIG Kishore Kaushal, Deputy Commissioner Sameera S, and SP Reeshma Ramesan. Mayor Aruna Shankar, SDPOs S Mohammad Yakub and Awadh Kishore Yadav, along with other prominent residents, also attended the function.

Organisers Continue Tradition
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Samal Ahmad and his team played a key role in organising the Iftar party. During the event, senior officials were honoured with ‘Safa’, while others were presented with ‘2 palla topi’. DDC Md Jawed Hussain was among those who wore both the ‘2 palla topi’ and the ‘Safa’.
The practice of gifting ‘Safa’ is inspired by the traditional style associated with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Notably, Samal Ahmad and his team had also organised a similar Iftar gathering during Ramadan last year, continuing the tradition of community engagement.
