First Visit After Assuming Office

This marks Radhakrishnan’s first visit to Jharkhand after assuming office as Vice President. He received a warm welcome in Khunti and was accorded a Guard of Honour.

Sharing his thoughts on the social media platform X, the Vice President described his visit to Ulihatu as a “deeply moving experience.” He paid tribute to Birsa Munda, stating that his life and sacrifices continue to inspire generations.

Recalls Earlier Visit, Highlights Govt Initiatives

Radhakrishnan recalled that he had also visited Ulihatu on the day he took oath as the Governor of Jharkhand, calling it a moment of great personal significance.

He highlighted the Centre’s decision in 2021 to observe November 15, Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary, as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’, stating that it has strengthened national pride in tribal heritage.

The Vice President also referred to the PM-JANMAN scheme, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jharkhand, aimed at the welfare and empowerment of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

He said such initiatives reflect a broader effort to both preserve the legacy of tribal freedom fighters and promote the development and dignity of tribal communities.

Next Stop: IIM Ranchi Convocation

After his visit to Ulihatu, the Vice President returned to Ranchi, where he is scheduled to attend the 15th Convocation Ceremony of IIM Ranchi as the Chief Guest.

A total of 558 students will receive degrees at the ceremony, with seven students set to be awarded medals for academic excellence.
