Ranchi, March 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday accused the Congress-JMM alliance government in Jharkhand of “double standards” and internal contradictions, citing recent remarks by leaders of both parties against each other.

Addressing a press conference, BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo said the current political situation reflects “ultimate hypocrisy,” with Congress leaders criticising governance despite being part of the ruling dispensation.

Congress Criticising Its Own Government

Pratul referred to statements made by Congress in-charge K. Raju and state president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, who allegedly flagged concerns over law and order, women’s safety, and the deteriorating education system.

“If the situation is so bad, why is Congress still in power? Is holding on to positions the only objective?” he questioned.

Mining Mafia Allegations

The BJP leader also highlighted remarks attributed to K. Raju, alleging that the Chief Minister’s mining department is under the influence of mining mafias. He further claimed that administrative functioning, including that of district officials, was being affected by such pressure.

Pratul said that despite these allegations, Congress has not taken any visible action or protest against the issue.

JMM-Congress Rift

Targeting the alliance, Pratul said JMM leader Supriyo Bhattacharya had referred to Congress as a “poisonous snake,” raising questions about the continuation of the partnership.

“This alliance is based on opportunism and self-interest, while the people of Jharkhand are suffering,” he said.

Bandh Call Over Vishnugarh Incident

He also criticised Congress for its delayed response to the Vishnugarh incident, stating that the party reacted only after a BJP delegation met the victim’s family.

He said BJP state president Aditya Sahu has called for a Jharkhand bandh on April 3 in protest.

He concluded by urging people to “recognise and reject opportunistic politics.”
