Ranchi, April 10: Prof. Saroj Sharma has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University, with the notification issued shortly after Chief Minister Hemant Soren met Governor-cum-Chancellor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday.
The appointment was made under Section 10(2) of the Jharkhand State Universities Act.
The post of Vice-Chancellor had been lying vacant for several months. During this period, Jharkhand Technical University (JTU) Vice-Chancellor Dr D.K. Singh was holding an additional charge.

Prof. Sharma is currently a Professor at the School of Education, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Dwarka, New Delhi.

CM Meets Governor
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid a courtesy visit to Governor Gangwar at Lok Bhawan in Ranchi.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed key issues related to the state, including development initiatives and the implementation of public welfare schemes.
