Ranchi, April 16: A delegation of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Jharkhand, met Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh to raise concerns related to the Clinical Establishments Act (CEA), pending payments and regulatory issues affecting hospitals in the state.
Relief likely for small hospitals
The delegation, led by Dr Ajay Kumar Singh (State Coordinator, IMA Jharkhand), included Dr Pradeep Singh, Dr Shambhu Prasad Singh, Dr Thakur Mritunjay Singh, Dr Bimlesh Singh and Dr Anupam.
During the meeting, the ACS assured that changes would be made in the rules and indicated that small hospitals may be kept out of the CEA framework. The move is expected to encourage the opening of healthcare facilities in remote areas by reducing regulatory hurdles and inspection-related issues.

He also agreed to allow approval of building maps for private hospitals in rural areas if cleared by local bodies such as the Mukhiya and Zila Parishad.
Assurance on payments, grievance redressal
On pending MMJAY payments, the ACS assured that dues would be cleared within 15 days. He also agreed to address the issue of auto-cancelled cases by writing to Deputy Commissioners to nominate officials for District Grievance Redressal Committee (DGRC) meetings.
The delegation thanked the ACS for his assurances and support on key issues affecting the healthcare sector.
