Ranchi, May 26: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday directed officials to ensure the timely and transparent delivery of education schemes to students and accelerate the expansion of CM Schools of Excellence across Jharkhand to strengthen quality education in government schools.

Chairing a review meeting of the School Education and Literacy Department at the Jharkhand Ministry, the Chief Minister reviewed the department’s achievements for 2025-26 and the action plan for 2026-27. He stressed improving educational infrastructure, modern learning resources and teacher availability in schools across the state.
Push for Expansion of CM Schools of Excellence
Soren directed officials to speed up the plan to increase the number of CM Schools of Excellence to 5,000 so that quality education can reach every panchayat in Jharkhand. He said the government’s priority is to ensure access to better educational facilities in rural and remote areas as well.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to ensure that no school operates with only a single teacher within the next six to eight months. He suggested involving qualified local youth, especially girls, through school management committees wherever required.

Faster Teacher Recruitment and Timely Salary Payments
Soren asked officials to accelerate teacher recruitment and fill all vacant posts on priority. He said the state government has already recruited thousands of teachers in recent months, and the process should continue without delay.
He also directed officials to complete verification work of newly appointed teachers by the end of this month to ensure timely payment of salaries.
Jharkhand Performs Better in Dropout Reduction
During the meeting, officials informed the Chief Minister that dropout cases in primary and secondary education have reduced significantly and Jharkhand is performing better than the national average.
Special enrolment drives are being carried out to identify children engaged in labour or other work and bring them back to school. The Chief Minister directed officials to improve internet connectivity and strengthen ICT labs in all government schools.
Focus on Sports and Residential Schools
The Chief Minister also stressed promoting sports activities in schools along with academics and identifying talented students for further training and opportunities.
Officials informed the meeting that 26 Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Schools are operational in the state, providing free education and residential facilities to underprivileged children.
DPR Sought for Proposed Shibu Soren School
Officials also presented details of the proposed Dishom Guru Shibu Soren School to be established at the Jaguar campus in Ranchi for children of martyred police personnel. Soren directed officials to submit the Detailed Project Report (DPR) within a week.
