THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Kalyani, May 27: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday said his BJP-led government would work in coordination with Opposition legislators and ensure cooperation between elected representatives and the administration, irrespective of political affiliation.

Addressing the media after an administrative review meeting in Kalyani, Adhikari said governance in the state would be guided by the “rule of law” and not by “the ruling party’s law.”

“Political differences should remain limited to elections. Throughout the year, there should be coordination between elected representatives and the administration. We must work with constructive ideas,” Adhikari said after reviewing development works in Nadia, North 24 Parganas, and Hooghly districts.

Opposition MLAs Invited to Administrative Meetings

The meeting was attended by Trinamool Congress MP Kakali Ghosh Dastidar and six MLAs from North 24 Parganas, marking a departure from the previous practice under former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, when Opposition MLAs were generally not invited to such administrative review meetings.

Adhikari said all-party participation would now be encouraged.

“For five years, Opposition MLAs were not invited to administrative meetings. We have decided that MLAs from all parties will be called,” he said, adding that officials should maintain communication with representatives from every political party.

He also claimed that during the previous government, BJP legislators often struggled to get responses from district officials and police officers.

Select MPs to Be Invited

The Chief Minister said MPs who have shown interest in developmental work and public issues would also be invited to future administrative meetings.

Without naming anyone directly, Adhikari said Barasat MP Kakali Ghosh Dastidar was invited after he heard her raise public issues constructively. However, Krishnagar MP Mahua Moitra was not invited to the meeting.

Welfare Camps and Annapurna Bhandar Scheme

During the meeting, Adhikari announced that welfare camps would be organised from June 15 to 17 to provide benefits under existing and new government schemes.

He also said forms for the Annapurna Bhandar scheme would begin distribution from Wednesday, urging faster uploading of applications to ensure timely delivery of benefits.
