JAMSHEDPUR, May 30: In a major drive to strengthen law and order, Jamshedpur Police conducted a large-scale crackdown on unauthorised public gatherings across urban police station areas of East Singhbhum district on Friday night.

The special operation was carried out on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey as part of efforts to monitor suspicious activities and curb crime in the city.
Raids Conducted at 49 Locations
During the operation, police teams carried out simultaneous inspections and raids at 49 identified locations across Jamshedpur, including road intersections, public places, isolated spots and other areas known for frequent gatherings.

A total of 172 individuals were verified and questioned during the drive. Police scrutinized identities and activities of persons found at the locations to deter criminal and anti-social elements.
Traffic Violators Also Booked
The campaign also focused on traffic enforcement. During the inspection drive, police issued challans to three vehicles found violating traffic rules.
Officials said the operation was aimed at ensuring public safety, preventing unlawful activities and maintaining a visible police presence in sensitive areas.
More Drives Planned
Police said the crackdown was part of a broader strategy to keep a close watch on anti-social activities and enhance public confidence in the security system.
Officials added that similar drives would continue in the coming days to maintain peace, law and order across the city.
Jamshedpur Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity, unlawful gathering or anti-social behaviour to the nearest police station or the police control room.
They said timely information from citizens plays a crucial role in preventing crime and ensuring swift police action.
