Ranchi, June 5: The Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) has emerged as the winner in the National Youth Reel and Short Film Competition organised by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). The competition was launched to create awareness about NALSA’s preventive and legal aid schemes among young people across the country.

National Competition Launched on National Women’s Day

The competition, titled “Frames of Justice,” was formally launched by the Executive Chairman of NALSA on February 13, 2026, on the occasion of National Women’s Day and the birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about various legal aid and welfare schemes through creative digital content and short films.

Students from law colleges and other educational institutions across India participated through their respective State Legal Services Authorities.

JHALSA Conducted Statewide Reel and Short Film Competition

Following guidelines issued by NALSA, JHALSA organised reel and short film competitions across Jharkhand through District Legal Services Authorities.

The themes focused on NALSA schemes and social issues, including acid attack victims, victims of trafficking, drug awareness, undertrial prisoners, mediation and child education, among others. The objective was to encourage students to create awareness-oriented digital content.

Birsa College Khunti Reel Declared Best in India

After district-level selections, shortlisted entries were forwarded to JHALSA, which subsequently sent the best reels to NALSA for national evaluation.

NALSA selected a reel produced by Birsa College, Khunti, on the theme “NALSA (Asha – Awareness, Support, Assistance and Action) Standard Operating Procedure for the Elimination of Child Marriage, 2025” as the Best Reel at the national level and declared the institution the national winner.

Consecutive Success for JHALSA

The achievement adds to JHALSA’s growing record in the competition. The authority had also secured first place in the national reel competition conducted in 2025.

JHALSA has congratulated the winning students and wished them success in their future endeavours. The students will be formally honoured at a programme organised by NALSA.
