Jamshedpur, Dec 28: In a significant move towards sustainable solid waste management, Jugsalai Municipal Council and Hulladek Recycling Pvt. Ltd. have formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to streamline the disposal of electronic waste (e-waste) in the Jugsalai area.

The MoU ceremony saw the presence of key figures, including Motay Banra (Executive Officer of Jugsalai Municipal Council), Rajendra Kumar (City Manager Manufacturing), Jyoti Punj, Mukesh Kumar Modi (Junior Engineer), and representatives from Hulladek Pvt. Ltd. This collaboration signifies a crucial step forward in promoting environmental sustainability and community responsibility in waste management practices.

Prevention of dumping e-waste in land, water

Under the terms of the MoU, Jugsalai Municipal Council will spearhead the collection of e-waste from households in the town using dedicated waste collection vehicles. The collected e-waste will then be handed over to Hulladek Recycling Pvt. Ltd.

This strategic partnership seeks to prevent e-waste from ending up in dump sites and river drains within the Jugsalai Municipal Council area, thereby mitigating air, land and water pollution. The initiative also aims to safeguard animals, birds and aquatic creatures from the harmful effects of improperly managed e-waste.

People urged to dump e-waste seperately

Residents of Jugsalai Municipal Council are urged to contribute to the success of this initiative by disposing of e-waste separately. Items such as old and damaged computer parts, laptops, tablets, telephones, electronic DVDs, CDs, batteries, projectors, speakers, headphones, electronic toys, mixer & blender & grinder, printers, scanners, Xerox machines, hair dryers, trimmers, radios, tab recorders, microwaves & ovens, toasters, coffee makers, air conditioners, power banks, induction cookers (excluding water filters & water heaters), irons, juicers, vacuum cleaners, typewriters, chokes/MCBs, cameras, light fittings, fans, washing machines, dissipators, wires, televisions, medical devices, motors & inverters, switches, etc., should be handed over separately to the collection vehicle or deposited in the designated e-waste bins provided by Jugsalai Municipal Council.

To enhance public awareness on responsible e-waste disposal, a comprehensive awareness campaign will be conducted by the concerned agency, targeting the citizens of Jugsalai Municipal Council area.
