Ranchi, August 3: Usha Martin University (UMU), through its Health Services Committee, organised a free eye check-up camp on Monday in collaboration with ARAM Eye Hospital, Irba, Ranchi, a unit of Medanta Hospital, reaffirming its commitment to preventive healthcare and community well-being.
The first day of the camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and non-teaching staff, with more than 90 people registering for the initiative.
Comprehensive eye screening and expert consultation
Participants underwent comprehensive eye examinations, vision testing, cataract screening, and received expert consultation and counselling from a team of experienced ophthalmologists, optometrists and healthcare professionals from ARAM Eye Hospital.
The initiative was aimed at promoting awareness about eye health while encouraging the early detection and timely treatment of vision-related disorders.
University dignitaries appreciate healthcare initiative
The programme was attended by Prof. Rajni Kant, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Sanjaya Mishra, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academics); Brigadier Sumar Vir Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration); Dr. Shiv Pratap Verma, Registrar; Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, Campus Director; Prof. B. N. Sinha, Dean Academics; and Dr. Akansha Anand, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy.
The dignitaries appreciated the initiative and commended the collaborative efforts of the Health Services Committee and ARAM Eye Hospital in promoting preventive healthcare and enhancing the well-being of the university community.
Eye screening drive to reach adopted villages
As part of its community outreach initiatives under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), the university will conduct door-to-door eye screening and awareness programmes on August 4 in its adopted villages of Angara, Narayansoso, Jannum, Childag and Salhan.
A medical team from ARAM Eye Hospital will visit the villages to conduct basic eye examinations, identify individuals requiring further treatment, and spread awareness about eye health and preventive care, extending the benefits of quality eye care beyond the university campus.
The university expressed gratitude to the medical team of ARAM Eye Hospital for its support and said it looks forward to the successful completion of the second phase of the programme, including the village outreach activities.
