Jamshedpur, September 7: Jharkhand is likely to see unsettled weather over the next few days, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds expected at isolated places, even as heavy rainfall remains confined to pockets of the state.
According to the latest weather outlook, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds gusting at 30-40 kmph are likely at isolated places across Jharkhand on September 7.
Stormy conditions are expected to continue on September 8 and 9, with isolated heavy rainfall likely over north-western and adjoining central parts of the state, particularly Hazaribagh, Gumla and Lohardaga.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also likely to persist at isolated places on September 10. No major weather warning has been indicated for September 11 and 12 at present.
The prevailing weather activity is being influenced by a low-pressure area over southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas, which persisted over the region on Sunday morning.
An associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level and is likely to move east-northeastwards.
The monsoon trough also continues to influence Jharkhand, passing through Daltonganj and extending eastwards.
Another trough extending from south Gujarat to north Bangladesh through Jharkhand and West Bengal also persists at higher levels of the atmosphere.
These systems are expected to keep atmospheric conditions favourable for intermittent rain and thunderstorms, particularly over northern and central districts of Jharkhand.
Isolated heavy showers possible
Although widespread heavy rainfall is not indicated in the forecast, isolated intense showers cannot be ruled out.
Weather experts have advised residents to exercise caution during thunderstorms, particularly in open areas, and to remain indoors when lightning activity is observed.
Farmers and commuters have also been advised to remain alert to sudden showers and gusty winds.
The latest outlook suggests that Jharkhand’s monsoon activity will remain active but largely localised, with no indication of a prolonged spell of widespread heavy rainfall over the coming days.
