Ranchi, September 11: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday as a grand festival in Jharkhand, similar to celebrations across the country, with a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service and Resolve Campaign) from September 17 to October 17, Jharkhand BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference at the state BJP office, Sahu said the campaign would mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on September 17 as well as the completion of 25 years of his public service and dedication to the nation on October 7, 2026.
He said the BJP had planned a series of programmes across Jharkhand during the month-long campaign, aimed at highlighting the welfare and development initiatives implemented under the Modi government.
‘Lamp of Blessings’ to be lit across Jharkhand
Sahu said ‘lamps of blessings’ would be lit at the doorsteps of households and in temples across Jharkhand on September 17, with prayers offered for the Prime Minister’s long life and good health.
One village in every organisational Mandal would be fully decorated, with lamps lit at every household, he said.
On the same day, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) will organise blood donation camps across the state.
BJP announces month-long service campaign
Giving details of the programmes, Sahu said the BJP would organise a series of activities under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, including Chitra Seva, Seva Smaran, Angan Milan Seva, Kahani Badlav Ki, Seva Jyoti Yatra, Badnagar to Varanasi Seva Yatra, Seva Mera Yogdan, Seva Setu Abhiyan, Jansevak Mahakumbh (Panchayat to Parliament), Seva Ke Rang Rashtra Ke Sang, Hackathons and Innovation Challenges and ‘25 Years, 25 Stories’.
Under the Seva Ke Rang initiative, rangolis will be created at various locations, while the ‘25 Years, 25 Stories’ programme will see BJP workers documenting 25 stories highlighting what they described as Prime Minister Modi’s social service and public life over the past 25 years.
Sahu said the programmes would also seek to reaffirm the BJP’s resolve to build a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India.
Sahu highlights Modi government’s welfare schemes
Sahu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been serving the people of the country “tirelessly and ceaselessly” for the past 25 years and described his political journey as one of Sankalp se Siddhi (from resolve to achievement).
He said Modi’s early experiences of hardship and poverty had shaped his approach towards policies and welfare schemes for the poor, labourers, farmers and other disadvantaged sections of society.
According to Sahu, several welfare schemes have been introduced since the BJP-led government came to power at the Centre in 2014, with a focus on the poor, farmers, labourers and marginalised communities.
He said the government had provided free food grains to 810 million (81 crore) people and introduced the Ayushman Bharat scheme to ensure that people did not lose their lives because they could not afford medical treatment.
‘India has become stronger and more united’
Sahu also highlighted what he described as India’s growing stature on the global stage since 2014.
He claimed that the country had become stronger and more united under the Modi government and said India had given a “befitting reply” whenever its security and sovereignty were challenged.
Sahu also credited Modi’s leadership with strengthening the country’s response to terrorism and improving the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Under Modi’s leadership, terrorism has been eradicated from the country; previously, the dignity of mothers and sisters in Jammu and Kashmir was violated, but since 2014, their dignity is secure,” he said.
He said the government was working without discrimination under the guiding principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’.
Sahu recalls Modi’s leadership in Gujarat
Sahu also referred to Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and recalled the devastating earthquake that struck the state.
He said Modi had accepted the crisis as a challenge and worked to rebuild Gujarat at a time when many believed the state would take years to recover.
Sahu said Modi’s journey as Chief Minister and later as the country’s Pradhan Sevak had demonstrated that difficult challenges could be overcome when policies and intentions were sound.
State General Secretary Manoj Singh and Media In-charge Yogendra Pratap Singh were also present at the press conference.
