Jamshedpur, September 30: Jharkhand is likely to witness another spell of unsettled weather over the next few days, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers expected at isolated places, particularly over the north-western, north-eastern and central parts of the state. Maximum temperatures, however, are likely to remain largely stable.
Rain likely in north-western, north-eastern and central Jharkhand
According to the latest forecast issued by the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, partly cloudy skies are expected across Jharkhand on Wednesday, with isolated rain or thundershowers likely in several parts of the state.
The weather office has not forecast any significant change in maximum temperatures during the next five days.
On October 1, partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places over north-western, north-eastern and adjoining central Jharkhand.
Rainfall activity likely to weaken from October 3
On October 2, rainfall activity is expected to become more restricted, with isolated showers or thundershowers likely mainly over north-eastern Jharkhand.
By October 3, weather conditions are expected to turn comparatively drier, with partly cloudy skies and dry weather likely across most parts of the state.
The forecast indicates scattered rather than widespread rainfall, with weather conditions likely to vary from one district to another.
Upper-air systems influencing weather
The prevailing weather pattern is being influenced by persistent upper-air circulation systems.
Officials at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre said an upper-air cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh continues to persist at around 3.1 km above mean sea level.
Another upper-air cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and adjoining areas also persists, extending between 1.5 km and 3.1 km above mean sea level.
These systems are supporting moisture and atmospheric instability over parts of eastern India and may trigger isolated rain and thunderstorm activity over Jharkhand.
No IMD warning for Jharkhand till October 5
The latest state-wise warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) does not indicate any weather warning for Jharkhand from September 30 to October 5.
Residents may nevertheless experience sudden showers, particularly while travelling or undertaking outdoor activities in areas witnessing thunderstorm development.
For Jamshedpur and other urban centres, partly cloudy conditions and intermittent showers may cause short-term fluctuations in daytime weather, although no significant drop in temperatures is expected.
The IMD’s city forecast for Ranchi also indicates generally cloudy to partly cloudy conditions around September 30 and October 1, with maximum temperatures hovering around 30°C.
Monsoon withdrawal to gradually bring drier conditions
With the southwest monsoon season nearing its end, weather activity is expected to gradually decline in the coming days.
Residents have been advised to keep track of the latest local weather forecast, particularly before travelling or undertaking outdoor activities in areas where thunderstorms are developing.
