Jamshedpur, November 2: Cyclonic storm Murasu over the Bay of Bengal is expected to keep Jharkhand’s weather unsettled over the next three days, bringing cloudy skies, possible light rainfall and fluctuations in daytime temperatures, particularly across the Kolhan region.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts, including Jamshedpur, are likely to experience predominantly cloudy conditions.
The department has indicated the possibility of isolated light showers on November 2, with cloudy skies and chances of rainfall continuing on November 3 and 4. The changing weather pattern may bring some variation in daytime temperatures and temporary relief from the prevailing warmth.
Murasu Intensifies Over Bay of Bengal
The cyclonic storm was active over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal on November 1. Its centre was located near 12.4 degrees north latitude and 84.6 degrees east longitude, about 480 km from Chennai and 550 km from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.
By the morning of November 2, Murasu had intensified into a severe cyclonic storm. The IMD forecast landfall along the south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur during the night of November 2 and the early hours of November 3, with wind speeds of 100–110 kmph and gusts up to 120 kmph.
The department has also issued cyclone-related warnings for coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu.
Jamshedpur Temperatures Likely to Ease
Although Jharkhand is away from the storm’s immediate coastal impact zone, its circulation and associated atmospheric changes are expected to influence local weather.
The IMD’s latest city forecast indicates maximum temperatures of around 31°C in Jamshedpur on November 2 and 3, easing to 30°C on November 4. Minimum temperatures are expected to dip slightly from 23°C to 22°C.
The city forecast does not indicate any specific warning for Jamshedpur. Residents have been advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions and follow subsequent IMD updates.
