Jamshedpur, November 3: Jharkhand is gradually transitioning towards winter, with light rainfall expected on November 3 and 4, followed by more frequent mist and fog in several parts of the state.
The brief spell of rain is likely to be followed by a gradual dip in temperatures, particularly during the early morning and night hours.
Ranchi, Jamshedpur and other parts of the Kolhan region may experience cloudy skies and occasional light showers before drier conditions set in.
The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) city-wise forecast indicates that Ranchi could record a maximum temperature of around 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20 degrees on November 3. Rain or thundershowers are possible, although no severe weather warning has been issued for the state.
On November 4, morning mist is likely before partly cloudy conditions prevail during the day.
The most noticeable change is expected from November 5, when the likelihood of rainfall is forecast to diminish and minimum temperatures could begin to fall.
In Ranchi, the night temperature is expected to decline to around 17 degrees Celsius by November 5, from 20 degrees on November 3. A similar trend is likely in Jamshedpur, where the minimum could fall to around 21 degrees on November 5 and drop further thereafter.
Morning mist and shallow fog are likely to become more frequent in the plateau districts, particularly Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Gumla, Khunti and adjoining areas.
The fall in night temperatures, along with relatively clearer skies, is expected to make early mornings and late evenings noticeably cooler.
The IMD has not issued any weather warning for Jharkhand for November 3 and 4. While afternoons are likely to remain comparatively comfortable, the winter chill is expected to become increasingly noticeable over the coming days.
