Jharkhand News: Rich tributes paid to ex-Dhanbad martyred SP

Dhanbad, Jan 3: Leaders of all political parties, officials of district and police administration intellectuals, and industrialists paid rich floral tributes to ex-Dhanbad Superintendent of Police (SP ) Shahid Randhir  Prasad Verma on his 33  martyr day today.

Verma was killed on January 3, 1991, while battling alone with four Khalistani terrorists to foil a Bank of India robbery in the Hirapur branch early morning. Before succumbing to the bullets of terrorists, he gunned down all of them from the service revolver of his bodyguard.

Late Randhir Verma was posthumously given Ashok Chakra award.

On this 33rd Martyr day, his wife and four-time BJP MP  and former union minister Prof Rita Verma, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Barun Ranjan,  Superintendent of Police ( city) Ajit  Kumar, Kapil Choudhary ( SP rural) paid rich floral tributes to the statue of late SP at Randhir Verma Chowk near  the collectorate.

 DC  Barun Ranjan

DC  Barun Ranjan, while offering floral tributes, said that today, all Dhanbad denizens recall the contribution of the late Randhir Prasad Verma, who sacrificed his life for the service of the nation. “  His sacrifice will be remembered ever,” he said.

City SP Ajit Kumar, while paying tributes, said that the police force got inspiration from the late Verma to do something for the country.

Cong district president Santosh Singh, former BJP district president Satyendra Kumar,  former mayor Chandrashekhar Agrawal,  Jharkhand Industrialists and Traders Association (JITA) general secretary Rajiv Sharma, JDU senior leader Sushil Kumar, state BJP executive member Ramesh Rahi,  BJP  district vice-president Sanjay Jha, Randhir Verma Memorial Society secretary Kishore  Kumar, convener Bhrigunath Bhagat also paid floral tributes.
