Jharkhand News: BBMKU Teachers Association sets agenda for teachers’ welfare

Dhanbad, Jan 5: Newly elected Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Teachers Association at its first meeting on Friday evening included four new office bearers in the committee and set an agenda for the welfare of teachers.

After the meeting, BBMKUTA general secretary Dr Amulya Suman Beck said that the committee unanimously included Dr Jitendra Aryan and Dr DK Singh of Bokaro Steel City College as spokespersons.

Dr Aryan was also a spokesperson in the previous committee, while Dr DK Singh was the candidate for vice president in the election, but he withdrew his name at the last minute.

Dr Madhuri of Bokaro Steel City College has been made the new zonal teacher secretary of the Teachers Association. At the same time, Dr Manohar Majhi of Bermo College Bermo has been nominated as office secretary. Dr Majhi had contested the election for the vice-president post, but he lost.

Eleven elected office–bearers out of 13, including president Dr DK Singh, vice-president Dr Avinash Kumar, Dr Riroom Rashmi, Dr Anamika Kujur, Dr Rampravesh, secretaries Dr Binita Soreng, Dr Alisha Vandna Lakra, Dr Priyanjana Hansda and Dr David Murmu, treasurer Dr Ajit Narayan Das were present.

Vice president Dr Sarmistha Acharyya of Sindri College and secretary Dr Ashutosh Rahul Tirkey of PK Roy Memorial College were absent.

Service conformation 

“Besides including four members, we also discussed the agenda at the meeting and decided to initiate the process to confirm the service of newly appointed teachers. Over the pending promotion of 1982, 1996, and 2008 batches of teachers,

The Association also created a Gmail group to take teachers’ claims so that process should be started at university and Raj Bhawan level,” said general secretary Dr Beck.

Dr Beck said teachers of the universities are deprived of the state government’s health insurance scheme. For that coverage, a delegation would meet the secretary of higher education, chief minister and Chancellor if needed.

Office in Academic Block

After the meeting, the newly elected office bearers of the Association met acting vice-chancellor Dr Pawan Kumar Poddar and briefed him about teacher issues. The office bearers also demanded an office room for the Association in the university’s administrative block.

The V-C assured us that they would sort out all the issues of teachers and offered the academic block to the Association for office and caretaking. “We agreed to take care of the Academic Block and maintained its sanitation along with PG students with voluntary labour contribution,” Beck added.
