New Delhi, Jan 8: Official data shows that on Sunday, India reported 605 new cases of COVID-19 and four deaths.
The total number of COVID cases in reported in the nation since its outbreak is over 4.5 crore (4,50,18,792); including 4,002 active cases.
The data updated at 8 am showed that the death toll was recorded at 5,33,396 with four new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, two from Kerala and one each from Karnataka and Tripura.

The count of individuals who have recovered from the illness has risen to 4,44,81,341, marking an increase of 648 since Sunday morning.
On May 19, the nation reported 865 new cases. Up until December 5, the daily case count had fallen to double digits, but the advent of a new variant and the cold weather has caused the cases to rise once more.
The pandemic started in early 2020, and in the four years that followed, over 4.5 crore people got infected and over 5.3 lakh people died nationwide. At its peak, the daily figures were in lakhs.
