Ranchi, January 12: Higher Education Principal Secretary Rahul Purwar said today that the state government is set to launch the CM Fellowship Scheme for the academic excellence of Jharkhand’s students.
What is the scheme?
Addressing a press conference at the IPRD auditorium, Purwar said that under this, there is a plan to promote research among those doing PhD from government or non-government universities of the state.
Under the CM Fellowship Scheme, Rs 25000 per month will be given to UGC NET/CSIR NET passed students and Rs 22500 per month to Jharkhand Eligibility Test students for four years.
A total of 1000 students will benefit from this scheme every year.

Also, tuition assistance of Rs 1500 per month will be provided at the Polytechnic, Diploma and Undergraduate level and Rs 2000 per month at the Post Graduate level for one semester.
Guruji Student Credit Scheme
The Principal Secretary said that the Guruji Student Credit Scheme is an ambitious state government scheme.
“Under this, students will be provided education loans up to Rs 15 lakh at a concessional rate of 4% annual simple interest for education in highly recognised top educational institutions. He pointed out that loan EMI will not have to be paid until the tuition period; EMI will be payable only after completing the course,” he pointed out.
Eklavya training scheme
Purwar further said that students in reputed empanelled coaching institutes will be provided free coaching to prepare for UPSC, JPSC and other competitive examinations. “Besides this, a monthly allowance of Rs 2500 will also be given. To avail of the benefits of this scheme, it will be mandatory to pass 12th from Jharkhand,” he said and added that under this scheme, 27000 students in 25 empanelled coaching institutes are expected to benefit.
Manki Munda Scholarship for female students
Principal Secretary Purwar said there is a plan to start the Manki Munda Scholarship Scheme to improve the enrolment of female students in technical educational institutions.
“Under this, annual assistance of Rs 15,000 will be given for diploma and Rs 30,000 for degree,” he said.
New Education Policy
Regarding the work being done under the new National Education Policy 2020, he said that all the state universities, including Jharkhand Technological University, have adopted the standard credit and framework for the four-year undergraduate programme.
Model University Act Draft
The Principal Secretary said that the Model University Act (Jharkhand Private Universities Bill) has been drafted to ensure and monitor quality teaching in private universities in the state.
Many Higher and Technical Education Department officials, including the Director of Information and Public Relations Department, Rajeev Lochan Bakshi, were present at the press conference.
