SUBASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, January 13: The Jharkhand health department has initiated steps to create dresser posts in state hospitals.

The director-in-chief of the state health department, Dr Birendra Kumar Singh, informed this when a delegation of the Paramedical Staff Association of Jharkhand met him in the base health directorate regarding the direct appointment of the dresser.

“The director-in-chief of health informed us that the proposal regarding creating dresser posts in the state health department has been sent to the finance department. A further step would be initiated after the finance department’s recommendation,” said Raju Mahto, secretary of the Paramedical Staff Association of Jharkhand, who led the delegation.

The delegation of the Paramedical Staff Association of Jharkhand comprising members of Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and Ranchi handed over a memorandum to the director-in-chief demanding direct appointment of dressers as per IPH guidelines at Sadar hospitals, referral hospitals, CHC, PHC, Paramedical colleges, medical colleges, emergency and other health centres across the state.

Notably, after the creation of Jharkhand as a separate state, dresser posts were not created in the health department.

“We informed the director of chief health that since 2006, trained dressers of all three medical colleges ( RIMS Ranchi, MGMMCH Jamshedpur, and  SNMMCH Dhanbad) have been roaming to give service. Even under the National Health Mission (NHM), dressers are not recruited on a contract basis while all state health centres require their services,” said Raju Mahto.
