New Delhi, Jan 15: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced an open call for applications for the role of national selector for the senior men’s cricket team of India.

Candidates have the opportunity to submit their applications until 6 pm on January 25. Following the review of applications, selected candidates will be invited for personal interviews as part of the subsequent assessment process.

To meet the eligibility criteria, applicants must have a minimum of seven Test matches, or 30 first-class games, or ten ODIs, or 20 first-class matches in their playing career.

One selector from each zone—north, south, east, west, and central—is chosen by the board in accordance with the BCCI constitution.

Ajit Agarkar current Chairman of Selection Committee, North Zone without represntation

The panel is led by the member with the most experience in terms of Test caps, and no selector may serve more than five years total—that is, the combined terms of their senior and junior panels.

In July 2022, the BCCI appointed former cricket player Ajit Agarkar as the Chairman of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee.

The current composition of the panel includes two selectors representing the western region, both affiliated with the Mumbai Cricket Association.

Ajit Agarkar and Salil Ankola from the west, SS Das from the east, S Sharath from the south, and Subroto Banerjee from the central region are the national selectors currently. The north zone is currently without representation.
