New Delhi, Jan 16: In the poll-bound state of Andhra Pradesh, the Congress on Tuesday appointed YS Sharmila Reddy, the sister of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, as the party’s president of Andhra Pradesh.
The announcement came one day after G Rudra Raju stepped down from the position of state’s Congress chief.
Earlier this month, YS Sharmila became a member of the Congress party and integrated her party, YSR Telangana Party, into the Congress.

“Congress President has appointed YS Sharmila Reddy as president of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect,” a release by Congress stated.
G Rudra Raju has been designated as a special invitee to the Congress Working Committee.
Together with the Lok Sabha elections, which are anticipated to take place in April and May of this year, Andhra Pradesh will also hold assembly elections.
