Dubai, Jan 17: After impressive performances in the series against Afghanistan, a number of Indian players advanced significantly in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, with spinner Axar Patel moving up 12 spots to a career-best fifth position in the bowlers’ category.
After the latest weekly rankings update on Wednesday, which takes into account all matches completed until Tuesday, Patel moved up two spots to 16th among all-rounders as a result of his hauls of two for 23 and two for 17 in India’s dominant six-wicket victories over Afghanistan in the first two Twenty20 Internationals of their three-match series.
Yashaswi Jaiswal’s outstanding performance with a 34-ball 68 in the second T20I in Indore has propelled him to a career-best sixth position in batsmen rankings, witnessing a notable seven-place climb. Meanwhile, Shivam Dube’s consistent unbeaten scores of 60 and 63 have catapulted him from 265th to 58th in the rankings.

Pakistan’s prominent batsman, Babar Azam, has risen one spot to fourth in the batters rankings following back-to-back half-centuries in the initial two matches against New Zealand. Additionally, Fakhar Zaman has seen a significant climb of 14 places, now standing at 81st.
Among the New Zealand batsmen, Finn Allen has made significant strides, securing the 16th position among batters, with impressive performances of 34 off 15 balls and 74 off 41 balls in the first two matches against Pakistan. Daryll Mitchell has moved up nine places to 37th, and Kane Williamson has experienced a rise of 13 places, currently occupying the 59th position. Meanwhile, Tim Southee, who claimed six wickets in these matches, has risen eight places to the 18th spot in the bowlers’ rankings.
Sri Lanka’s spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana have both climbed in the bowling rankings, securing joint-third position with Hasaranga moving up one place and Theekshana advancing by two positions.
