Ranchi/Khunti, January 23: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today launched the Abua Housing Scheme, fully sponsored by the Jharkhand Government in Khunti.

Addressing a ceremony held at NHPC Ground in Torpa, Khunti, the chief minister said that the beneficiaries of Khunti and Simdega should now move forward in the direction of Abua housing construction.

About 75,000 Abua houses in Khunti and Simdega

The chief minister said that the state government had provided the list of housing to the poor to the central government. “In this, a request was made to provide housing to eight lakh people. Its list was also uploaded to the portal. However, the central government did not approve housing for the poor. Therefore, the state government will build Abua Awas on its own. This will be a permanent residence with three rooms and a kitchen.

Rs 2 lakh for Abua house

“Earlier, two room houses were constructed under PM Awas Yojana, for which Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand were given. Our government is giving Rs 02 lakh for the construction of Abua house. Around 30 lakh applications were received during the Aapki Yojana Aapki Sarkar Aapke Dwar programme. After verification, the government is working towards providing housing to 20 lakh needy people in various phases,” he said.

 Opportunities for employment

The chief minister said that it is providing many jobs and self-employment opportunities to the youth of the state.

Private sector has fixed 75 percent reservation for local people. Under this, more than 50 thousand skilled youth have been given employment in various industries. Two days ago, thousands of youths were given employment in the textile industry operating in Kulhi Industrial Area located in Ormanjhi, Ranchi.
