New Delhi, Jan 25: Jagadish Shettar, the ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka, who switched to the Congress party last year ahead of the Karnataka assembly election, rejoined the BJP on Thursday.
Today, the 67-year-old leader officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the company of former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and the state party chief BY Vijayendra, who is also Yediyurappa’s son. This move precedes the upcoming Lok Sabha election later this year.
Upon rejoining the BJP, Shettar expressed his return to the party with the conviction that Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves to be re-elected as the Prime Minister.

“The party gave me a lot of responsibilities in the past. Due to some issues, I went to the Congress party. In the last eight to nine months, there were a lot of discussions. BJP workers asked me to come back to the BJP,” he stated.
“Even Yediyurappa Ji and Vijayendra Ji wanted me to come back to the BJP. I am rejoining the party with the belief that Narendra Modi ji has to become the Prime Minister once again,” Shettar added.
Shettar, a member of the influential Lingayat community, left the BJP in April of the previous year after being denied a ticket. He then switched to the Congress, which promptly offered him a ticket to contest in the Hubli-Dharwad Central assembly constituency—the same seat he had previously held during his tenure with the BJP.
