Varanasi, Jan 31: The district court of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh has ruled in favour of the Hindu side, granting the right to worship in the underground chamber of the Gyanvapi mosque.

In this sequence, the court has ordered the district administration to make arrangements for barricading within 7 days. The underground chamber is beneath the Gyanvapi mosque.

Kashi Vishwanath Trust Board to conduct worship

After the orders of the district court, regular worship will now take place here. According to the information, the Kashi Vishwanath Trust Board will conduct the worship. The way in front of the Nandi Maharaj, sitting in front of Gyanvapi, will be opened.

The Hindu side has achieved a significant victory saying they have received justice after 30 years. Notably, worship was conducted here until November 1993.

Court reserved verdict yesterday after hearing arguments

Earlier yesterday on Tuesday, a hearing was held on the petition regarding permission for worship in the Vyas basement located in the Gyanvapi complex of Varanasi. The hearing was held in the court of District Judge Dr Ajay Krishna Vishwesh. The court had reserved the order after hearing the arguments of the parties.

In this regard, plaintiff Shailendra Pathak Vyas’s advocates Vishnu Shankar Jain, Sudhir Tripathi and Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi argued that while accepting a part of their application, the court has ordered handing over the Vyas basement to the DM.

State government halted worship after 1993

The court had been urged to remove the barricading in front of the basement and allow worship in the Vyas basement.

It was argued that the Vyas family had been performing worship in the Takhkhanah until 1993. After 1993, the then state government had halted worship in the Takhkhanah.

Mumtaz Ahemad and Ekhlaq Ahmad, representing the Anjuman Intazamiya Masjid Committee, objected, stating that the Vyas Takhkhanah is part of the mosque, and permission for worship cannot be granted there.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court had reserved its order yesterday.
