UP: Finance Minister Khanna presents Rs 7.36 lakh crore budget for FY25

Lucknow, Feb 5: The budget for the Uttar Pradesh assembly’s financial year 2024–25 was presented by the state’s Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna on Monday.

The budget for the financial year 2024-25 features a total outlay of Rs 7.36 lakh crore, marking an increase from the current fiscal year’s budget of Rs 6.90 lakh crore.

The state finance minister stated during the budget presentation that new schemes of Rs 24,863.57 crore are included in the overall expenditure of Rs 7,36,437.71 crore for the upcoming fiscal year.

A total of Rs 2,03,782.38 crore has been set aside for the capital account and Rs 5,32,655.33 crore for the revenue account out of the total expenditure.

“Following the subtraction of total expenditure from the receipts of the consolidated fund, the budget anticipates a deficit of Rs 15,103.89 crore.”

Khanna announced that the Destitute Women Pension Scheme will now provide eligible recipients with a monthly payment of Rs 1,000, up from the previous amount of Rs 500.

Until the third quarter of 2023–2024, he stated, up to 31,28,000 impoverished women have benefited from the scheme.

The minister announced the aim of creating 200 producer groups in the fiscal year 2024-2025 under the Women Farmer Empowerment Project, with a focus on providing technical support.

The state’s budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 amounted to Rs 6.90 lakh crore, incorporating new initiatives valued at Rs 32,721 crore.
