New Delhi, Feb 16: Police reported on Friday that a 24-year-old M Tech student from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, was found dead by hanging in his hostel room.
The situation came to attention when the family of the student, Sanjay Nerkar (24), requested his hostel companions to verify his well-being as he was unresponsive to their calls.
Upon receiving the notification, Nerkar’s locked room was broken into, uncovering his body hanging from the ceiling fan.

He stayed at the Dronacharya Hostel, room number 757.
“Nerkar’s family members called him on Thursday night. When he did not answer the phone, the family members asked his hostel mates to check on him,” a police officer stated.
Police stated that the cause of death is being investigated and that the student’s family members have been notified.
