Ranchi, April 28: In a development sparking major political controversy, BJP leaders have levelled serious allegations against the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government, accusing it of protecting Bangladeshi intruders and endangering the indigenous tribal population of Santhal Pargana.

Leader of Opposition and BJP State President, Babulal Marandi, has alleged that 13 suspected Bangladeshi nationals were detained in Mumbai, all of whom possessed Aadhaar cards reportedly issued in Jharkhand’s Sahibganj district.

Marandi revealed that these individuals, including one woman and twelve men, bizarrely shared the same date of birth — January 1— raising serious concerns about fraudulent documentation practices.

“Reports indicate that all Aadhaar cards were made in the Radhanagar area of Sahibganj,” Marandi stated, adding that the local Superintendent of Police has confirmed that the Deputy Commissioner has formed a committee to investigate the matter.

Highlighting the geographical proximity of Sahibganj and Pakur to the Bangladesh border, Marandi accused the Jharkhand government of facilitating large-scale infiltration to build a loyal vote bank. “In the greed for votes, the government is endangering the very existence of tribals in Santhal Pargana,” he warned.

Attempts to Stall Infiltration Inquiry?

Marandi further pointed out that when the Jharkhand High Court ordered an investigation into the infiltration issue, the Hemant Soren government moved the Supreme Court seeking to halt the probe — a move he claimed reveals the government’s true intentions.

He demanded that the state administration immediately release details on when and how the Aadhaar cards were issued, and who was responsible, urging swift and transparent action to restore public trust.

BJP Spokesperson Links Conversion to State’s “Lawlessness”

Adding to the BJP’s offensive, State Spokesperson Rafia Naz expressed grave concern over a separate but related incident in Seraikela, where a 19-year-old girl was allegedly converted and married off in West Bengal to a man already fathering three children.

Naz criticised what she termed the “disgusting network” of forced conversions flourishing under the state’s watch. She called for Jharkhand to enact an ‘Anti-Love Jihad Law’ similar to those in BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana, emphasising the need for a strong legal and monitoring framework to prevent such crimes before they occur.

“When the safety and identity of our daughters are at stake, the Chief Minister is busy attending foreign ‘Shopping Festivals’,” Naz remarked sharply, urging Hemant Soren to prioritise state security and women’s safety.
