Ranchi, Feb 24: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday heard a public interest petition demanding appointments to key constitutional positions, including Lokayukta, Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission, Chief Information Commissioner, and Information Commissioners.
During the hearing, the state government informed the court that these appointments had been delayed due to the absence of a Leader of the Opposition.

Taking a serious view of the matter, the court has scheduled the next hearing for the last week of March.
Several crucial posts in constitutional bodies, including the State Information Commission, have remained vacant for years.
The High Court has previously directed the government to expedite these appointments. However, the ongoing delay in naming the Leader of the Opposition has stalled the process.
