Active monsoon to trigger heavy rain over Jharkhand till July 6

Jamshedpur, July 3: The monsoon has become more active over Jharkhand with forecasts of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning over several parts of the state over the next four days, according to the latest bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s Ranchi centre.

July 3: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over North-Central and adjoining parts of the state. Thunderstorms and lightning may occur at isolated locations across Jharkhand.

July 4: Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over North-Central and adjoining North-Eastern parts of the state. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely at isolated locations.

July 5: Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted over North-Western and North-Eastern regions.

July 6: Heavy rainfall is again likely over North-Central and adjoining areas.

Weather Systems in Play

The monsoon trough at mean sea level is currently extending from Bikaner, Banasthali, Shivpuri, Siddhi, Chaibasa, Digha, and further southeast to the east-central Bay of Bengal.

A cyclonic circulation over south Jharkhand and adjoining areas persists and now extends up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level, tilting southward with height.

An upper air trough also runs from southeast Rajasthan to northwest Bay of Bengal across central Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, and Gangetic West Bengal, including the cyclonic circulation zone over Jharkhand.
