“My injured police officer told me that two of the JJMP ultras have also been hurt in the retaliatory firing of the police force. There is a pool of blood. The trail of blood is up to the river there.” added Lathkar.

The JJMP ultras were said to be four or five in number and they might have run away with the injured cadres at night.

Lathkar said, “The injured police officer was in a bullet proof jacket. It’s a very good thing. Others with him also had bullet proof jackets. The bullet proof jacket did its job. It saved our officer otherwise there would have been a new script by now”.

“It was a very cold winter night. Our boys of three police stations Chiniya, Ramkanda and Ranka went to the jungles where an encounter took place with the JJMP ultras around 11.45 night,” said Lathkar.

The injured police officer had used AK 47 to retaliate against the firing of the JJMP and when he was to load another magazine a bullet came right on his chest but got ricocheted leading to injuries in his left wrist.

Police have recovered ‘pithoos’, wireless set etc of the ultras from the site of the encounter.

On being asked as to how as ADG Ops he saw this episode to which Lathkar said “My boys did a good job. It’s true one of our boys is injured but the JJMP too had never thought of police taking it so on such a cold winter night. We will make them run for their lives now.”

Tunesh Oraon of the JJMP has a notoriety for running away with weapons of his dead ultras. Police are rummaging through the files to know the number of cases against him.
