The criminal case was lodged by Ramesh Kumar, also a contractor in the Daltonganj division of the PWD on December 17 with the Barwadeeh police station.

Sub-inspector of police Barwadeeh police station Ravi Kumar is the investigating officer of this case.

Gunshots fired at party

The case in brief is that there was a party thrown at Kechki by a junior engineer of the PWD building division Daltonganj Sajid Akhtar on the occasion of the birthday of his son.

There in the party, a brawl broke out among the contractors. It is alleged shots were fired too.

The executive engineer PWD building division Daltonganj Mahender Ram, and contractors Randheer Pathak and Avinash Jaiswal were at the party too.

On the other hand, the executive engineer PWD building division Daltonganj Mahender Ram has denied knowing anything except saying that “I had hardly finished eating a piece of Papad when I heard noises and commotion and then I decided to leave the party.”

The executive engineer further said, “Ramesh Kumar and his son created scenes before my vehicle near the check post of the forest department. I got through with great difficulties.”

About the contractor Ramesh Kumar, Mahender Ram said, “Ramesh Kumar claims to have his dues worth more than Rs 1.6 crore. He wants me to clear his bills. I have told him that I can’t help him as these claims of him about money are not of his tenure. It is dated back to his predecessor. I will never clear the bills. I am going to write to the department.”

Sources said gunshots were fired but more to frighten and also to establish supremacy and not to cause any harm.
