Ranchi, January 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party in Jharkhand on Wednesday handed over the reins of the state unit to Prof. Aditya Sahu, signalling the party’s renewed focus on organisation-building and grassroots leadership ahead of crucial political challenges in the state.
The formal announcement of Sahu’s elevation as Jharkhand BJP State President was made by Election Officer and Union Minister Jual Oram. A grand felicitation ceremony was organised at the Carnival Banquet Hall, where thousands of party workers from across Jharkhand gathered.
Along with the state president, the BJP also announced the names of 21 newly elected members of the party’s National Council, underlining an organisational reset within the state unit.

Show of Strength at State BJP Office
Following the ceremony, Aditya Sahu reached the state BJP office in an open, decorated vehicle, accompanied by a motorcycle procession of party workers. He paid floral tribute to the statue of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee, reflecting the party’s ideological roots.
The event turned into a show of strength for the BJP’s Jharkhand unit, which is aiming to regain political momentum in the state.
From Booth Worker to State President
Aditya Sahu’s political rise mirrors the BJP’s emphasis on cadre-based politics. He joined the party in 1980 at the age of 17, beginning his journey as a booth-level worker. In 1984, he was given the responsibility of being the Booth President, marking the start of his organisational ascent.
Ormanjhi: The Political Nursery
Sahu’s political base was shaped in Ormanjhi, a region that has produced several grassroots leaders. He became a member of the Ormanjhi Mandal Executive Committee in 1989 and was appointed Mandal General Secretary in 1991.
His rise continued at the district level when he joined the Ranchi District Executive Committee in 1995. He was later made District Membership In-charge, and in 1999, became Vice President of Ranchi District BJP.

Key Organisational Role in Ranchi and State Unit
Between 2003 and 2010, Aditya Sahu served two consecutive terms as President of Ranchi District BJP, a period marked by organisational expansion and membership drives.
In 2010, he entered the State Executive Committee, serving until 2014. From 2015 to 2019, he held the post of State Vice President, before being elevated as State General Secretary in 2019 and nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
In 2026, the party entrusted him with its highest organisational responsibility in Jharkhand.
BJP’s Strategic Message in Jharkhand
Aditya Sahu’s appointment reflects the BJP’s strategy to reconnect with grassroots workers, strengthen organisational discipline, and prepare for upcoming electoral battles in Jharkhand.
His journey—from a booth worker to the state’s top party post—sends a clear message within the BJP: organisation, loyalty, and long-term commitment remain central to leadership in Jharkhand politics.
