New Delhi, Nov 15: A review meeting was held on Saturday at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence to discuss the Mahagathbandhan’s humiliating defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. Senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and KC Venugopal attended the meeting.

According to sources, the discussion focused on assessing the party’s disappointing performance in Bihar. After the meeting concluded, Rahul Gandhi left, while KC Venugopal and Ajay Maken addressed the media. Both leaders held the Election Commission and “SIR” responsible for the defeat.

They alleged large-scale vote tampering and irregularities at multiple levels. The Congress leadership stated that the party will conduct a detailed examination of the complete voting data and, after a thorough review, will inform the media about the reasons behind the party’s heavy loss and who was responsible.

KC Venugopal said the results from Bihar were unbelievable for the entire party. He termed the 90% strike rate unprecedented in Indian history. He added that the Congress is collecting and deeply analysing data and will present concrete evidence within one to two weeks.

According to him, the entire election process appeared questionable, and the Election Commission acted in a completely biased and non-transparent manner.

Earlier on Friday, Rahul Gandhi had claimed that irregularities occurred right from the beginning of the Bihar Assembly election. The Congress contested 61 seats but failed to even reach double digits, ending up with only six seats. The Rashtriya Janata Dal secured only 25 seats. For comparison, in the 2020 Bihar elections, the Congress contested 70 seats and managed to win 19.
