Paris, Feb 11: The AI Action Summit began in Paris on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi joining French President Emmanuel Macron on stage. The summit also saw the participation of U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
Notably, PM Modi is co-chairing the AI Summit. He arrived in Paris on Monday night, where he received a warm welcome from the Indian community at the airport. Later, President Macron extended a red carpet welcome to him at the Élysée Palace.
Addressing the AI Summit, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that AI has become a necessity of the times. He stated that India has the world’s largest talent pool and has established a robust system for data security. With support from both the government and the private sector, the country is making significant strides in AI.
Highlighting AI’s promising future, he underscored its potential for the greater good. PM Modi acknowledged concerns about the increasing power of machines but assured that there is no need to worry. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to sharing its expertise and experience to ensure that the future of AI benefits everyone.

“India is building its own large language model considering our diversity. We also have a unique public-private partnership model for pooling resources like compute power. It is made available to our startups and researchers at an affordable cost. India is ready to share its experience and expertise to ensure that AI future is for good and for all,” PM Modi stated.
“We are at the dawn of the AI age that will shape the course of humanity. Some people worry about machines becoming superior in intelligence to humans. But no one holds the key to our collective future and shared destiny other than us humans. That sense of responsibility must guide us,” he added.
“India has successfully built a digital public infrastructure for over 1.4 billion people at a very low cost. it is built around an open and accessible network. It has regulations and a wide range of applications to modernize our economy, reform governance and transform the lives of our people,” the PM said.
“We have unlocked the power of data through our data empowerment and protection architecture, and we have made digital commerce democratic and accessible to all. this vision is the foundation of India National AI mission,” he added.
