Mumbai, May 20: Akshay Kumar has reportedly taken legal action against actor Paresh Rawal, seeking Rs 25 crore in damages for what his production company, Cape of Good Films, has termed highly unprofessional behaviour.

The dispute stems from Rawal’s unexpected withdrawal from Hera Pheri 3 after signing a binding agreement and filming some initial scenes for the movie.

According to sources, Akshay, who now holds the rights to the franchise after acquiring them from Firoz Nadiadwala, initiated legal proceedings following Rawal’s exit, which occurred despite shooting commencing in April this year under director Priyadarshan. Akshay and Suniel Shetty had already begun filming.

Rawal publicly confirmed his exit last week through a social media post, emphasizing that his decision was not prompted by creative disagreements or monetary issues.
“I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I reiterate that there are no creative disagreements with the filmmaker. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr Priyadarshan, the film director,” Rawal had said announcing his decision on X.
