Daltonganj, May 20: A piquant situation has arisen in the UG courses of the Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) in the session 2021-24. It’s both disturbing and intriguing.

Nilamber Pitamber University is clueless about 8000 plus students of the sixth and final semester of the semester exam of the UG courses slated to start on / from Tuesday May 20, who have become invisible.

As these 8000-plus students didn’t fill up the exam forms at all, no admit cards were issued.

Dropouts, Migration, and Other Factors Behind the Decline
The university has not much of clue as to where its 8000-plus students are who will abstain from taking the sixth and final semester exam of UG courses.

An official of the outsourcing agency that deals with the university exams of this university said, “287 students of the session 2021-24 took the migration certificate and left the university.”
“Again, little over 4000 students of this session of the UG courses either dropped out after the first semester or the second semester or the third semester,” the outsourcing agency said.
University sources said girl students leave their UG course studies midway because of marriage.
A university source said, “Our students work at petrol pumps in big cities. Some work with courier services. Some shuttle as a delivery boy from food to garments and shoes.”

University Leadership Seeks Accountability and Solutions
The Vice Chancellor of the Nilamber Pitamber University, Dr Prof Dinesh Kumar Singh, who has taken a very serious note of the dip in the numbers of the examinees said, “It’s a serious issue. If such is a dropout in such a few thousands of numbers, then it’s time to find out where things have so gone wrong.”
“Professors in charge/ principals of the colleges must keep a track of the enrolled students and during the time of the examinations, such a huge abstention has to be redressed first,” added the VC.
“We have directed the exam department to ensure that no genuine and eligible student is left without the admit card for any fault of the outsourcing agency, as then the outsourcing agency will be squarely responsible since the sixth and final semester of degree exam”, added the VC.
OSD to the exams department Dr Gaurav Srivastav said necessary arrangements have been put in place at each of the 17 exam centres.
VC Dr Prof Dinesh Kumar Singh has asked the teachers and non-teaching staff to extend full cooperation in the conduct of the fair exam.
