Daltonganj, December 28: An alert admission team at MMCH Daltonganj foiled an attempt by a girl student to secure admission to the first year of the 2025 MBBS batch using a fake certificate.
MMCH Principal Dr P. N. Mahto said the incident took place on Saturday.
According to the principal, the girl attempted to take admission by submitting a disability certificate claiming she was deaf and hard of hearing. The certificate mentioned a “hole in her ears” as the disability.

As per admission protocol, the student was referred to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department of MMCH Daltonganj for medical verification. After being sent for examination, the girl did not return to the medical college to complete the admission process.
Subsequent verification revealed that the disability certificate submitted by her was fake. The medical examination did not support her claim of deafness or hearing impairment.
Dr Mahto said this was the second case of an attempt to gain admission based on fake documents at the college. A few weeks earlier, the admission of a first-year MBBS student had been cancelled after caste and residential certificates submitted by the candidate were found to be forged.
In the present case, however, the girl could not secure admission as the medical check-up itself exposed the falsity of her disability claim.
Sources said there appears to be a concerted effort by some candidates to gain admission to medical colleges using fake certificates, including those related to caste, residence, disability, or economic status.
